There is a definite place for a NO and there is a definite place for a YES. What is important is to be clear what you are saying NO to and what you are saying YES to.
All things being equal, people prefer to do business with people they KNOW, LIKE and TRUST. This came out very strongly in the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna. Believe it or not there are some career lessons to be gleaned from that series.
